Lilium candidum or the Madonna lily comes from true lily family and is state flower of Indian states Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. It has naturalized presence in Italy, Ukraine, France, the Canary Islands, North Africa and Mexico. It is native to the Middle East and Balkans, though. The Madonna lily emits a heady fragrance and has white petals with flushed yellow at the bottom. The flowers bloom in winters and withers away as summer approaches. Like other species of lilies, this flower is also prone to viral and fungus disease.
