If you like your flora and fauna, a trip to Rose Garden in Chandigarh is a must. The work for Chandigarh Rose Garden was initiated in the year 1967 under the duty and guidance of Dr M. S. Randhawa, who was first Chief Commissioner of the city.
Officially known as, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, this garden is home to thousands of roses and trees of medicinal importance such as bahera, camphor, yellow gulmohar, harar and bel. The roses are placed in beds and lawns all over the 30 acres of space. Roses of more than 1,600 different species in over 50,000 rose bushes can be found here. Some of the rose species are named after Lal Bahadur Shastri, John F Kennedy and Queen Elizabeth. One of the rose species is also named after its creator, Dr Randhawa.
The garden is now Asia’s largest garden for its magnificent landscape that celebrates roses like no other! Photography via cameras and mobile is allowed. The rose garden now has lots of flowers, apart of just roses, now its been popular for showing mega flower show in Chandigarh.

The organiser committee organises a major cultural event called The Rose Festival in February or March season. Other than the roses themselves, you can visit the garden to participate in various gardening contests such as photography, bonsai, landscaping and many more.

Rose Garden in Chandigarh opens all day throughout the week. The timings are 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM. The duration of the visit is 1 hour per ticket.
